MODULE 02 · LESSON 4 of 8
The Goal-Shaped Hole (pp. 3 & 4)
Explore the Goal-Shaped Hole, stressing that teacher burnout often arises from a deep, mid-career void left when early mastery progress fades and goals shift from growth to mere avoidance.
Step 1: While watching the video, write at least four important ideas or details under the title on the left page. Each legible, clearly separated idea/detail must:
- Be at least 3 complete, paraphrased sentences (not copied from the video or transcript)
- Exclude personal feelings or reactions
- Include the video timestamp (in parentheses)
Step 2: Add a symbol next to each detail:
😃= If the detail resonates with you
💡= If the detail is new or surprising to you
👎= If the detail is something you disagree with or question
Step 3: Write your Reflections on the right page.
Legibly handwrite a 6–7 sentence personal reflection on these concepts, explaining how you might integrate these ideas into your life, learning, or work. End your reflection with your signature.
